Improving the efficiency of your boiler can save you a lot of money. The heating in your home accounts for around 60% of your energy expenditure, the more efficient your boiler is, the cheaper your heating expenses will be. Here at United Heating, we go through a few points to help you find out how efficient your boiler is.
How to find the efficiency on my boiler
The first step in determining how efficient your boiler is to search for a label with an energy efficiency rating on your boiler. This can be easily found on newer boilers as they are often either placed on the boiler or the packaging the boiler came in.
If you have an older boiler and cannot find the sticker, there are a couple more ways to figure out the efficiency rating.
How do I find the efficiency rating on an older boiler?
You'll need to find out the model number if you have an older boiler. You can do this by simply checking behind the boiler, where the pipes exit, and under the front flap, where the dials are located. You'll be able to see a small label or plate with the model details.
On the label, you'll also notice a brand name, such as Vaillant, Worcester Bosch, Ideal, Baxi, or any numbers. A model, which is usually a number relating to the boiler's size, such as Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i, will be included beside the brand.
You can then look up the model number to help you figure out how efficient it is once you get it.
What do I do if I cannot find the model number?
Model numbers and information can fade overtime time, or you may have misplaced the original documentation that came with your boiler, making it difficult to determine its efficiency. We can still get a rough idea of its efficiency, simply request your heating engineer to help look into it.
